Summary (from Goodreads):
How do you defy destiny?
Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it’s getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she’s haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they’re destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.
As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.
My review:
Awesoooome *in a singsong voice* LOL Okay, so like the usual, this review might contain spoilers so beware 😉
Well, I wanna point this out guys, I love the Greek Mythology! I love the Gods, I love the demigods, oh I just love everything about it. The complicated history, the different roles and powers, the different family feuds. Greek Myth should be real! I’m not saying that it isn’t and I’m not saying that it is, well, truth is, I know that they aren’t real. But hey, what’s wrong if I still love reading about them, yeah? That’s why they are myths. Anyway, Starcrossed absolutely had a twist of modern mythology. I loved this book!
I love Lucas! He is probably one of the heroes that girls today would love. He’s strong, he’s perfect and he’s hot. Well, he is one of the sons of Apollo so what did I expect? LOL What do you guys expect? He’s freakin’ perfect, I tell y’all! He’s overprotective and kinda mysterious. I like that! Hmmm, sounds like someone I know from a vampire book? Well, they are all dreamy, sexy and gorgeous.
And could I forget about Hector and Jason? Hell no way, they’re as perfect as Lucas. God, the only difference that makes Lucas step up a bit higher over them is that he is the lead male character, if he isn’t then these two would probably be as hot as he is. They’re also from the House of Thebes so good looks are given. I love Hector’s strong physicality and courageous mind. He reminds me of Emmett, only he makes the role hotter and more recognizable. Emmett just stayed at the side, fighting with Edward. And Jason, I like how he treats Claire. He admires her and tease her at the same time. That is just so cute. And of course, he reminds me of Jasper. The nice-kind-of-guy.
Who else? Oh yeah, Ariadne and Cassandra. I like Ariadne cos she accepted Helen in the family even before everyone realizes who she is. I mean, she never treated her bad like Hector and Claire. She’s the sweetest character and yeah, she’s more like Alice LOL And Cassandra, a little grumpy at first but it is just because she’s the oracle and the daughter of the Fates and it is her destiny to be as far away, emotionally, as she could be. She is like Rosalie but nicer. And Castor is like Carlisle, a loving and accepting father who loves her wife Noel. And Noel is just like Esme.
And how could I not like Helen? Please, she’s the strongest of all the Scions in the book, she’s pretty, she’s hot. What’s not to like? She just sometime have these mood swings that kinda annoy me at time but she still is a better heroine than Bella. She can fight, she is smart and she is extraordinary. I love how she and Lucas get mad at each other. They’re so cute! I love how Lucas is forcing himself not to touch her although he really wants to. But what I didn’t like is that they somehow ended being related by blood because Daphne, Helen’s mom, told them that Helen is their Uncle Ajax’s daughter. So… that makes them cousins! First cousins! Huhuhu but like Helen, I do not trust Daphne, something mysterious is creeping over her personality and it make me want to read more! LOL
Might I just tell you guys that I was annoyed with the Furies messing with Helen and Lucas before. But I got it over with and I loved this book, though I didn’t finish it in 3days straight (my normal reading days) because:
*I was busy with school finals when I started this
*I was busy shopping for Christmas presents
*I was always tired so I always doze off while reading 😦
But it still is a good read! I hope the second book, Dreamless, gets out soon! I don’t want to wait for 3 more months or more! I want it right now. I love Starcrossed and Lucas. Ooops. I love Starcrossed! Greek Mythology is always a good story when written well. Love it!
