Summary (from Goodreads):

Being a teenager is tough enough, but try it when you have schizophrenia and psychic abilities that make all of your imaginary friends real…
The odds are against Mouch-he’s locked up in Talsom Mental Asylum; his only friends are a sock puppet and his shadow. Worst of all, he suffers from amnesia; his earliest memory is of being found alone in a mall wearing nothing but a pair of polka-dotted boxer shorts, a pair of fluffy white bunny slippers, and a hat made from a newspaper…. and covered in a generous amount of blood. When an elderly gentleman visits him and reveals that Mouch is not crazy but is actually a psychic, Mouch does what any rational person would do-he runs for the door. Once outside of Talsom, Mouch soon finds himself thrust into a battle against a sinister movement of dark psychics who threaten to destroy the entire psychic community.

My review:

Is this book insane and just for schizophrenic people or am I just dreaming? LOL

In any way, Mouch is a nice book. Although, I find the name cute and weird at the same time. The book’s very well constructed and very funny. I love Sherman and his sarcastic mouth and I love Mav, he’s just always there and ready to fight just to keep Mouch safe. I could say, I wanted them as friends but that’d be weird cos Sherman is a sock puppet and Mav is somewhat formed like a shadow and they are Mouch’s imaginary friends. So every time Mouch talks to them, he receives this eerie look from the people around him, getting the message that they think he’s crazy.

I like Mouch, he’s young, fourteen, and still he seems so determined with everything but sometimes he tends to be scared, who wouldn’t be, right? I mean, if you’re off to battle because someone wants you dead, wouldn’t you be scared? Anyway, Mouch is also a sensitive and emotional person, I like this about him cos he seems so worried about his friends. He is willing to be in danger just to protect them. He somehow reminds me of Percy Jackson and Harry Potter LOL And I was reminded of Professor X by Dr. Nicholas Jenkins. Just saying!

I thought I wouldn’t like this book because:

1. I am more of a paranormal romance reader, something with Angels, Faeries, Shadowhunters, Wizards, Demons, Vampires, Wolves, Gods and Goddesses and other mythical creatures that won’t even be seen in our daily lives. And something with a love triangle excites me. Mouch has none. Other than Mav, the only supernatural creature here, there are only plain humans with psychic abilities. And he and Teqi, isn’t really a couple, I assume they will be soon but not in this book.

2. It wasn’t recommended to me by my friends. I always enjoy the books that had been recommended to me because the guys I talk about books with had the same taste and preference of books like I do.

3. I thought at first that it was lame because it has a fourteen year-old as a protagonist that has a sock puppet and a shadow as imaginary best friends. But I was proven wrong! Not all books that has imaginary friends in it are lame and for children. In fact, this book made me want to have my own imaginary friend LOL

But i didn’t get so hooked to it so I gave it four stars. I mean, I like it and will probably buy the next book after this but while I was reading it, I just felt a bit weary and always decided to read it tom. PLUS, college is killing my time. Ugh, I hate how school works are eating much of my time. Can’t I do them for an hour and the rest, just read and relax? There are just so many books and so little time. I wish they add more time in a day and change the customary twenty-four hours LOL

So Mouch is a nice read. I enjoyed it and loved the characters and I will buy the next installment. I hope the story is consistent though, I would hate it if someone dies! LOL Go read it guys, it’s really pleasant and I recommend it! Toodles!
