Summary (from Goodreads.com):
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister’s place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
This, I say, will contain spoilers. Sorry if I put review with spoilers on, I just can’t help it.
So I just finished the Hunger Games. I wasn’t disappointed! One of the best books that I’ve read. I’ve heard so many cool comments about this one and so I ca’t help but read it on my own. It’s cool, a unique concept and a very interesting story. I can’t say anything about the characters. They’re awesome. I love Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen. Although, they were only acting and showing emotions for the Games, I really couldn’t help myself but smile every time they kiss or have this eye contact. They have the perfect chemistry, a poor girl, who hunts for her family just to have something to eat and loves her sister very much and a kind of wealthy boy, who is a son of a baker and is handsome, that is a perfect balance. Don’t you think?
Well, I can’t help but having a crush on Peeta. Although he can’t fight with any weapon and he is not trained to be in the wilderness, he still gave his best to protect Katniss. He tries and he never failed. Peeta is just so sweet. I love how he confesses that he has a crush on Katniss ever since they were five. I love how he gave burned bread to Katniss and accepted to be slapped by his mom. I love how he tries to protect Katniss from the very beginning of the Games. He’s just so true. True to his emotions, true to himself, true to Katniss. Just so pure, I love that about him.
And about Katniss, I love her bravery. I love how she can shoot anything and anyone with a bow and arrow. I love how she can survive in the wilderness. I love how she took care of Peeta when he’s sick and dying. I love how intellegent she is. I love how she can put remedy in any situation. She’s somehow the perfect heroine in a story.
I just don’t like how Katniss doubts Peeta at firsts and thinks he’s a traitor. I just think it’s not fair for Peeta, I mean, his intentions are real, might a well trust him, yeah? And I don’t know why he even thinks of Gale while she’s in the Games. He’s not even with her. And she mentioned it herself, he’s not her boyfriend and they are nothing near that, so why bother? She could have just focused on Peeta. LOL okay, obviously I’m in team Peeta. Whooo!
So yeah, I couldn’t wait to read the second book, Catching Fire. The first thing I’ll do tom is to buy it at the nearest bookstore. I’m intrigued about this certain trouble that Katniss had gotten in with the Capitol. They were furious about being betrayed and something about Katniss and Peeta being rebels. Well, I don’t know what might happen but one thing is for sure. I’ll stay at team Peeta until the end.
And oh! I can’t wait for the upcoming movie, when shall it be on movie theaters? I’m excited! I want to see Jennifer Lawrence act as Katniss. She is an amazing actress! I love how she portrayed the young Mystique in X-Men. She’s so pretty. And about Josh Hutcherson for Peeta? I have no comment, he’s okay. I mean, I think he’ll do great. Looking forward to their romance, LOL! And as for Liam Hemsworth as Gale. I do not like it because I do not like him. Never liked him. I like his brother better, Chris Hemsworth. Troyyy!!! Okay, I’m going insane now. I hope the movie isn’t disappointing and is just like the books. LOL Till next review!
