Summary (from Goodreads):

There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

My Summary:

At the beginning, Luce (Lucinda Price) was living out a normal life, in a normal school, with normal friends. He got involved with this guy named Trevor, she liked him and he liked her back. They kissed, once, and that never happened again because the same night they kissed, Trevor got burnt and they were the only people in the place and so Luce was the one who people suspect that made the fire in the incident. The court has given her the order to spend her studying in a reform school for notorious teens and so she was sent there. When she got into the reform school, she never expected that it was like THAT there. She calls it hell in her inside mind. She was required to live in her own dorm room, small enough for her to fit in. There were only 80 students all in all and that was almost just a population of a single year level in her past school. And only once a week, every Wednesday, can make your call at home or to anyone whom she wishes to talk to. Luce didn’t like the idea of being isolated from everyone else outside. Then she met Arriane, they got along and eventually became friends. She saw this guy and she felt something about him, this was Daniel Grigori. He has grey eyes and yellow hair but even though she felt that way about him, Daniel seemed to hate her and she felt disgusted by him. On her first day, she got into a fight with Molly, another school mate of her who doesn’t really have a good attitude and obviously hates her. They were sent to detention with four more people – Daniel, Arriane, Cam and Roland. And incident happened, the angel statue fell down and Daniel wrapped his arms around her and they fell flat on the floor. After that Cam threw a party in his dorm room and everyone was invited.  Luce saw Daniel went out and she goes out to look where he would go. She feels some kind of attachment to him but Daniel seems to avoid her and didn’t entertain her at all. She saw Daniel stop and talk to Gabbe. Luce got frustrated and has thought of too many things, whether Gabbe and Daniel are together or that’s why he doesn’t like her back because of Gabbe. The next day, after the party, they were all awakened by an alarm and it was PE day. Luce was assigned in the pool with Penn, another normal friend (she thinks everybody in the school is normal and has done something wrong before they were sent in reform school), and… Gabbe, the least person that she would like to mingle with. Luce, Penny and another guy got chosen to finish a race in the pool but Luce cannot concentrate with what she heard the other night, of what Daniel and Gabbe are. Then she saw Daniel and Gabbe again, talking at the side of the pool. She couldn’t concentrate more and lost in the race. She confronted him and he walked away from her. So things happen. And once inside the library, Cam kissed her in front of Daniel and he punched him in the face. Daniel told him to never touch Luce ever again and continued to fight with him outside. And so, there’s this time that Cam asked Luce to go out with her and get fresh air. They went into a bar outside reform school (which was illegal because they could not really go out, they should just stay inside the campus). Cam got into a fight and Daniel fetched her. They went back but before they reached the school, they stopped and he told her that Cam wouldn’t do her any good. They kissed and he got surprised. Everything was confessed to Luce by the time she and Daniel got together. He told her that Daniel get to live forever and never dies. He told him that Luce dies and would be reincarnated every seventeen years but even after her deaths, he and she would be together again, as if they were meant to be for each other. She knew that same day that Daniel is an angel. Then time comes that the battle must begin and so Daniel asked Miss Sophia to take Luce far away from the scene where the battle is taking place. She runs with her and Penn but Penn got hit by something in the shoulder badly. Miss Sophia killed her, stabbed her in the throat because she said Penn is just slowing them down. Luce was shocked. Penn was a very good friend to her. Another friend had died in front of her eyes. She was supposed to be killed by Miss Sophia also; her reason was for Daniel to live a better life without Luce getting much of his attention. She cannot die anymore; for she wouldn’t be reincarnated again because she wasn’t baptized as a Christian and in order to be reincarnated she had to have lived by the words of God. She was saved by Daniel and the next day he asked Mr. Cole to send her far away from the place. He and Cam had a truce saying that whoever wins gets Luce.

My Review:

I LOVE THE BOOK. I liked the story. Although when I browsed it over the net, there are a lot of negative comments. They say that Fallen is a lame book, that it’s just like the second twilight or worse. Well, whatever they say, I do not care. I like it. I was actually amazed by Luce’s and Daniel’s love story. It’s unique and sweet and just so real. To be waiting forever for the return of your love is just hard but of course, for the sake of their love Daniel did it. Loving and introducing himself again to Luce is tough but still they tend to have passed the pace where they have to meet again. When I finished reading the book, I wanted my own Daniel Grigori, just like when I finished twilight; I also wanted to have my own Edward Cullen. Well, knowing that your boyfriend is an angel is a real scare but at the same time, amazing, right? After I finished it, I went out telling my friends that I want a boyfriend named Daniel. Hahaha. Funny but true, I would love to think that there are real fallen angels from heaven, here on earth. I’m not saying that there is none but falling for one and being entrusted by his secret that he is an angel is just so mesmerizing. I love Daniel Grigori and I would love to name my child Daniel because of this book. This is the effect of Fallen to me. And really, after I’ve read everything, I couldn’t wait much to see Torment – second sequel to Fallen – and meet Lauren Kate in person. Oh my… that would be one of my dreams and if that happens, I’ll be one of the happiest people ever.

And I added opinion, I remember the song “This I Promise You” with the story. It says it all. Read the book and relate it to the song. It’s so appropriate, like Lauren Kate actually got the story when she heard the song. Ha! Ha! Anyway, read it and you’ll see.
